I spent most of my career in the nonprofit world, and I still serve on the boards of two arts organizations here in Colorado. When I was 23, I founded a performing arts organization and spent the next 40 years building it into a nationally recognized professional ensemble. That work taught me things I still believe deeply: trust matters, relationships matter, and people deserve to be treated with respect.

Over the last few years, I’ve been gaining experience in real estate investing and building a nationwide network of inspiring colleagues. What I enjoy most about this business is simple — the human connection. I like listening, understanding what someone needs, and finding a creative path forward that feels like a win-win. 

I live in Boulder, Colorado, with my lovely wife of 36 years, Nicky. We have three adult children; our oldest son serves in the US Navy and just completed a three-year tour of duty at Pearl Harbor. Our other two children are a mechanically-gifted son who is a welder, and an aurally-gifted daughter who is an audio engineer; she has toured with such acts as Teddy Swims, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, and Parcel, to name a few. We're very proud of all of them!

One of my other passions is spending time on our historic family farm in East Tennessee, seen in the photos on this site and described on my blog pages. The land was originally deeded to my 4x-great-grandfather in 1792 (before Tennessee was even a state!), as payment for his service in the Revolutionary War. In 1804, this ancestor built a three-story brick house on the top of a hill above the French Broad River, during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson. The farm is rich with American history and filled with family stories. I feel close to the land there, out on my grandfather's 1952 Ford 8n tractor that I've been maintaining and working with for most of my life.
